GUEST: Astronaut Mike Massimino
Elsie is driving home with Homer.
Homer sees his father, talking with other men by the mine.
“Will you let me out?” asks Homer. Elsie stops the car.
John Hickam is talking to to a man with a clipboard.
“What are they doin’, charging Olga for that?” asks John.
“It’s gotta have a pump,” says the man with the clipboard.
“Hell, salvage something up here,” says John, pointing up the hill.
Homer catches up with his father.
“Hey, Dad,” says Homer.
“Hello, Homer,” says John.
“I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you did for me,” says Homer. “I know it wasn’t easy for you, so thank you.”
John doesn’t say anything.
“We’re shooting off our last rocket today at five o’clock so if you’d like to see it–” says Homer.
“Well, I got a lot of work to do,” says John.
“All right,” says Homer. “I just thought I’d ask.” Homer walks back down the hill. John calls after him.
“Hear you met your big hero,” says John. “Didn’t even know it.”
Homer turns around and walks back up to his father.
“Look…” says Homer.
