Roy Lee is explaining to Homer what to do when he goes on a date with a girl. He tells him to put his arm behind – “her chair, like so. When it gets scary, and she ain’t payin’ attention to nothin’ but the movie, you sort of let your arm sort of slide on down her shoulder, real nice, and slow and easy until – ” Roy Lee grabs Homer under the armpit. Homer yells. O’Dell laughs.
“I see it! Right there!” says one of the townspeople, Carl.
“Where? Where?” asks another man.
“You seein’ things, Carl?” asks another woman.
“I see it!” says Elsie.
“Where do you see it?” asks a woman.
“I see it. It’s right there,” says Roy Lee.
Sputnik falls silently across the star-filled West Virginia sky.
“Wow,” whispers Homer.
“Sons of bitches gonna be droppin’ bombs on us from up there!” says one man.
“Don’t know why they’d drop a bomb on this place,” replies Roy Lee
