“All right, quick. Get rid of it,” says Homer. Quentin dumps the propellant down the chemistry class sink, and washes it away with water.

The boys set up the chemistry experiment they’re supposed to be doing. The substitute teacher looks at their work.

Meanwhile, at another lab table, Valentine lights a match to start her Bunsen burner. She tosses the lit match into her sink.

Flame erupts in tall fireballs at all the lab tables. The entire class gasps.

Homer looks at Quentin, shocked. Quentin just smiles.

At the company machine shop, Homer talks to Mr. Bolden, who is operating an upright belt sander.

“Mr. Bolden,” says Homer, “Have you seen Mr. Bykovsky around?”

“He’s not in the shop anymore,” shouts Mr. Bolden over the noise of the sander. “Your dad sent him down to the mine.” Homer is shocked.

Later, Ike Bykovsky walks home from the mine, carrying his lunch pail. Homer walks with him.

“He’s takin’ it out on you because you helped me!” says Homer.

“That’s enough of that,” says Ike. “Your father is a fair man. If he’s strict, it’s because he has to be. Besides, he did me a big favor, transferring me from -“
